Thank You

See I know a little bit something good always comes out of a little bit something bad…
I have always loved that line from the JLo song First Love. And over the physically, mentally and emotionally draining roller coaster that is the last few months of my life, I have come to see the truth in that statement. Shit happens in life… people get sick, people die and people fall, but that is when you see the compassion and beauty in others, and the strength within yourself.
Over the past few months, I have made the conscious effort to push down doors I’ve always wanted to open, but couldn’t due to medical issues. And I did a lot of it with so much support from my friends and family.
So for this… my NINTH blog… I wanted to go “old-school album cover” style, and acknowledge everyone who has helped me in making my dreams come true…
First and foremost, I want to thank my Mom for being… well… my mom. Over the years, I have driven her insane, and she has pushed every button I have, but despite it all, there is a love there that just can’t be described. She has been my rock with all my medical issues, encouraged my writings and blogs, supported my crazy ideas, and I don’t know what I’d do without her. We’ve come a long way, and I love you Mom.
To my siblings - Harrison, Shari, Hymie, and their families: I know I can be much, but thank you for being my family, and for having my back. I would cut a bitch for any of you.
To all my relatives that have reached out during this crazy time: I cannot even begin to tell you what that has meant to me to have all your love and support, and the feeling is definitely mutual.
To Pam: You have been my bestie for probably a thousand years now, and I hope that never changes. Thanks for being you, and for reviewing my blogs, and going over my medical records with me, and keeping me as sane as humanly possible, and just about everything else. You see me as I really am, you love the quicksand I walk on, and we both know I will always be the bigger bitch… MUAH!!!!!
To Kathleen: Through similar situations, we have become very fast friends, and I am sooooo happy to have you in my life. You are such a goof-ball, but then again, so am I. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for being you, and for helping check my blogs, and all the advice, and for opening a new door. However, one of these days, we will finally have a plan of ours work out LOL!!!!!
To Carolyn: You really are Wonder Woman. You are such an amazing mom, and friend, and overall person. I know I can be rough around the edges sometimes, but thank you for being a sounding board for me, and a true friend. You kick ass… and may I add that we make 40 look GOOD!
To all my friends: Thank you for everything, from sitting with me and listening as I cried, to celebrating all the victories. Thank you Andrea for helping me get my puppy home, and for sitting with me when I was freaking out about my medical tests during “Hell Week.” Thank you Roxanna for talking with me about dealing with Thyroid issues, and calming me down. Thank you Jeanette, Barbara, Harron, Stacey, Julie, Jimmy, Nicki and Yari for always checking in with me, and seeing how I’m doing. Thank you Mary for inspiring me, not just once, but twice. Thank you Danielle and Kat for letting me sit with you and have my mini breakdowns about everything, and for the reality checks. Thank you Jennifer for doing The AIDS Walk and Bookcon with me, for being there when I met Michelle Visage, and for being such a great friend. I could not have survived the last few months without every single one of you.
To my sexy beast, Jack: I love your cray-cray ass. Now… STOP LICKING ME!!!!!
To Dr. Bikhman, Dr. Mendelsohn and Dr. Markman: Thank you for being my medical team, and for getting my health back on track. I know it’s been a bumpy ride, but I’m glad everything is now on the up and up. I feel better now than I have in the last few years.
To Dr. Boutin: Thanks for getting my brain back in check, and all the feedback.
To Danna and Thyroid Nation: Thank you for seeing me as a Thriver, and for believing in me enough to let me write my story. I cannot wait to see it published. SO EXCITED!!!!
To all the haters: Thank you for showing me how strong and fabulous I truly am. Haters are gonna hate, but I’m just gonna LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! #winning
To everyone who has messaged, texted, poked, called, emailed or hung out with me: Thank you for caring about me and being a friend. You guys give me the strength to continue on with all your love, advice and support.
And to everyone who has looked at anything on Baztards.com: Thank you for making my dream a reality. This website was a pipedream, but has become so much more. It’s been a stepping-stone to many different ventures, with many more to come. And that is all thanks to you.
Hilary Clinton wrote a book called It Takes A Village, and she was absolutely right. Without all of you, I am nothing. You all inspire me everyday to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
